The keypad is the point

Most calculators make you convert 7-3/16" into 7.1875 before you can type it. This one has a fraction row. Tap 1, 2, feet, 7, then 3/16, then inches. You get 12' 7-3/16" and the app never asks you to do arithmetic in your head on a ladder.

It reads whatever you throw at it — 12'7-3/16", 12 ft 7 3/16 in, 151.1875 in, 3.84 m. Rounding is to the nearest 1/16 by default and switches to 1/8 or 1/32. If a value cannot be shown exactly at your setting the display says so, instead of quietly rounding it away.

Tap how this is calculated and you get the actual formula with your numbers in it. No black box. If a result looks wrong you can see why in one tap, which is the difference between trusting a tool and guessing.

The job sheet

Name a job, add results to it, and the app rolls up your materials by type. A slab and its footings become one concrete order. Export the whole sheet as plain text to your clipboard or straight to the share sheet — it pastes cleanly into a text message, an email or a supplier's order form.

Honest about limits

The structural, electrical and gas tools carry a plain warning and mean it: every figure is an estimate from the numbers you typed.

The joist span tool runs the bending and deflection checks that a span table is a lookup of, but it does not know your species, your grade or your local amendments. The motor FLA tool tells you outright that the NEC requires its own tables rather than the calculation, because the calculated figure is lower and sizing wire from it would undersize it.

Verify structural, electrical and gas work against your local code and a qualified professional. This app helps you order material and check yourself. It does not sign off on anything.

Free, with ads

The app is free and paid for by advertising. You choose whether those ads are personalised and you can change your mind at any time in Settings. There is no full-screen ad on launch and none while a calculator is open.
